"Life teaches value of degree"
I am a counselor for the Adult Degree Evening Program and my CLU story resides with a student I had the pleasure of working with, Robyn Ballard. Her story is the epitome of what an ADEP student is.
Robyn attended CLU as a traditional undergraduate student 24 years ago...as like many naïve 18-19 years are she completed a few semesters at CLU but left the college to pursue her dream...she wanted to be an actress.
Long story short, she went out into the cruel world trying to make it on her own! She eventually became a mother- left her dreams of acting behind and set out on a personal mission to accomplish something she left behind as a young adult. She came back to CLU to finish a degree in the ADEP program!
Her story is like others in the program, those wanting satisfaction and gratification in something they attempted once in their lives and foolishly thought she didn't need. I proudly watched her across the stage at graduation last week and she did the honor of sharing her story as ADEP commencement speaker. I'm sure her story connected with those participating in the ceremony and perhaps those in the audience as well.
I wanted to give back to my Lutheran heritage so I started teaching at CLU and this has been a perfect fit for me.
Don’t knock a postcard. It’s how I first heard about CLU.
I remember a picnic under the trees by the library.
Everyone that I spoke with and emailed already knew of my arrival and were very friendly towards me and each other.
