Announcements for the week of August 27

  • All Campus Picnic - Tuesday, August 28, 12-1:30pm, Peppergrove.  All new faculty will be attending, so we encourage you to come and meet them!
  • Faculty Retreat (Full time faculty only) - Wednesday, August 29 - Thursday, August 30, Ventura Beach Marriott. Materials can be found on the Faculty Governance Blackboard under Faculty Meetings, Academic Year 2012/2013, August (Retreat).
  • President's Reception and Family Send-Off - Saturday, September 1, 5-6:30pm, President's Patio.
  • Opening Academic Convocation - Tuesday, September 4, 9:30am, Gilbert Arena (Faculty meet in Lundring in regalia at 9am.) 
  • Freshman Seminar Faculty - Please note that New Student Orientation occurs over Labor Day Weekend this year, with events involving Freshman Seminar Faculty being held Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (Labor Day). For more information contact Student Life at x3553.
  • As you prepare your syllabi, please keep these items in mind:
    • A list of Fall 2012 events submitted by faculty that you may want to include in your syllabi can be found by clicking on this link:  Fall Events
    • CLU will be holding an Earthquake Drill on Thursday, October 18, in conjunction with the California Shakeout Earthquake Awareness Day. We are not announcing the time of the drill, but it will require an evacuation of all buildings for approximately 30 minutes. 
    • Please note that the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 21, is designated as a "reading day" and no formal classes will be held, however, you SHOULD give an assignment for this day.
  • In an effort to be sustainable, please consider NOT handing out a paper copy of the syllabus to your class, and just providing it through Blackboard.
