Community Leaders Association members and friends had the rare and exciting experience of spending an evening behind the scenes at CBS Studio Center in Studio City. The event was held on Friday evening, August 20, and began with a walking tour of the back lot and sound stages. Included was an in-depth visit to CBS Television where the group was behind camera for the CBS Chanel 2 six o’clock addition of the news. Working up an appetite the group proceeded to the commissary (i.e. Carla’s Café) for a scrumptious dinner. The evening ended with a movie in the CBS screening room--red plush colored chairs, high definition screen, and the latest projection quality.
Host for the evening Mike Skinner, Director of Security, provided a history of the studio, which at one time housed Republic Pictures. Notable actors during the Republic era were Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, along with Clayton Moore of Lone Ranger fame.
