Meet Our Staff

Cynthia "Cia" DeMartino, Ph.D.
Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning

Cynthia or "Cia" is an instructional design technologist with a doctorate in Communication from UCSB. Her goal at CLU is create a comprehensive development program that offers training and support as faculty integrate technology and effective education strategies into the classroom and beyond. Specific areas of support include copyright and fair use, hybrid courses, syllabus support, universal design, and virtual classrooms. Pedagogically, she is aligned with experiential and service learning paradigms. She is also teaching for the Communication Department and the Bachelor's Degree for Professionals program at CLU.

Glen Rewal
Director, Instructional Technology Services

Before coming to CLU, Glen had over 20 years of broadcast experience with engineering and operation credits on nationally syndicated broadcasts. While employed at Paramount Pictures, Glen worked on many of Paramount's leading shows including Entertainment Tonight, Hard Copy, Leeza, Soul Train, The Marilu Henner Show, the Emmy award winning Arsenio Hall Show and was engineer in charge for the nationally syndicated show The Party Machine. Glen also worked on specials such as Backstage at the World Cup which was broadcast world wide from the back lot of Paramount Studios. Glen was Senior Field Service Engineer at Sony Electronics for the western region where he worked with on the latest digital broadcast equipment at some of the most prestigious facilities in LA including VidFilm, Sony Pictures Studios, NBC Burbank and Modern Video.

Minyan He, Ph.D.
Instructional Designer, Center for Teaching and Learning

Minyan is an Instructional Design Specialist with a Ph.D degree in Instructional Systems and Workforce Development from Mississippi State University. His goal is to design and develop high quality and interactive online/blended courses for CLU faculty. He's also interested in introducing effective teaching/learning tools to CLU online learning community. His research inerests are online learning efectiveness and online collaboration.


Joseph Henle, MBA

Blackboard Specialist, Center for Teaching and Learning

Joseph is a Blackboard Specialist with an MBA in Financial Planning from California Lutheran University.  While employed with the School of Management at CLU, Joseph helped with the design and implementation of Blackboard and Blackboard Collaborate for the General MBA’s online program.  Having transitioned to the Center for Teaching in Learning in February, his main area of focus is now to help educate faculty and students on how to best use Blackboard and its tools.
