Cats vs. Birds

What happens when  birds, cats, strange spices, and Santa Claus are mixed together into one story? With a good deal of creative development, “Cats vs. Birds” is the most probable result. It tells of a bird named Pie, a small but courageous bird, willing to help his flock in any way possible. When an army of cats in flying ships come and begin to kidnap the members of his flock, Pie barely escapes the invasion and seeks help from the Wise Old Tree in the forest, thus beginning his quest to find Santa and save his flock. The purpose of this project is to provide courage, confidence, and certainty that one’s actions do matter, no matter how big or how small they are.

Teamwork, Diversity and Greed in The Adventures of Commodore Soixante Quatre: The Rainbow Jaguar

This is the incredible alternate-earth story of “The Adventures of Commodore Soixante Quatre: The Rainbow Jaguar“.  In the united Europe during the early steampunk 20th century prosperity and peace do not last long following a war with the Order of the Octopus. Commodore Soixante Quatre, a French naval veteran, finds himself thrust into an adventure that takes him to a far-away island with his two companions: the young Captain Mouse, and the quirky automaton, Bird. To save the world from an old adversary the Commodore must claim the priceless Rainbow Jaguar diamond, lest its wealth and power fall into the wrong hands.  More than a thrilling tale the story has a message to teach about the value of teamwork, diversity, and overcoming greed. A French soldier, an English privateer and an American robot find a common bond to save the world. The Adventures of Commodore Soixante Quatre and its first installment have been developed to take its audience on an exciting, comical adventure, and open the doors to many adventures to come.

A Battle Between A Mother's Love and a Child's Yearning for Independence

Due to a mother’s dramatic loss of her son in Disneyland, the next child has no chance of being independent. Walter is a young boy who is under the constant watch of his mother Martha. No sweets unless it was his birthday, no playing outside, must be homeschooled. One day he wishes on a magic hot dog for an endless supply of his favorite food. The next morning he wakes up to just that: A rainstorm of brownies. He decides to break free from the quarantine he has experienced his whole life and it is now his mission to find a way out of the confinement of his house. This story was derived from an abstract creative class collaboration and was then transformed into a story that explains a mother’s love and a child’s yearning for independence.

Milley's Wild Ride

In this life turning adventure “Milley’s Wild Ride”, we travel forth to witness what is not your average fourteen-year-old girl.  She didn’t live or grow up in a normal life, nor did she have normal parents. From a young age, Milley’s irresponsible parents dragged her around from bar to bar for hours at time. As Milley got older, she started to realize that the excessive party and drinking scene was nowhere she wanted to be. It was one day that she found a way out, strangely in a utility closet of the popular nightclub that her parents would commonly go to. A mysterious glowing fish bowl far within the closet caught young Milley’s eyes and will take Milley on a journey that will change her life forever. But what’s the catch? Through her battles of the dry desert and the forbidden forest, Milley must fight through her own inner struggles to make her own path for herself.

Exploring Relationships with Lockenpur Thieves

Lockenpur Thieves follows the journey of a group of criminals seeking to carry out the greatest score of their time and steal the Crown of Gavanix from the ultra-high security Lockenpur Keep vaults. Throughout the story I explore the relationships between the three very different thieves and their motivations as well as overarching themes like betrayal, vengeance, desperation, and the struggle for survival in an innately unjust world. This is modeled through group leader Reynard’s quest for redemption from false accusations. The presentation follows the story itself as well as its journey from a simple notion to a fully-fledged story through the usage of diverse creative development techniques.

The Adventure Quest to Find One’s Purpose in  “Eat a Snickers”

This presentation is about the resolution of an internal conflict that is within all humans: how to discover one’s true purpose.  Pop music icon Adam Levine, 35, is visited by two angels who warn the singer that if he doesn’t discover his true life’s purpose within the next three days he will be sent to live in hell for eternity.  A frightened and hysterical Adam leaps to action and via his magic microphone travels the galaxy trying various jobs such as barbecuing swamp pigs, moon farming robot cows and becoming the assistant to an android Jessica Alba’s.  Alas no job sticks out to be his true passion and on the third day Adam is left wandering the sahara desert lost and without hope until a little toy cymbal monkey hands him a Snickers bar and changes his life forever. How you wonder?  Come see the surprising twist!  This story embodies the human struggle everyone goes through and the internal journey they must endure to discover their own passion.

Reviving Silliness in an Overly Serious Genre

The intent of “The Highly Improbable Collaboration Coalition” is to poke fun at today’s hyper-popular superhero movies. Recent films such as Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises suffer from excessive melodrama and lose the excitement and intrigue the characters had in their original form. Utilizing oddball characters like MacGyver and Steve Urkel this story seeks to recapture the wit and fun from the “Golden Age of Comics” such as the classic Batman and Spiderman serials in addition to having the epic, worldwide scale of superheroes today. Embracing the more comical tropes of these stories, such as comedically ridiculous plans and kooky gadgets, my tale parallels the blueprint of the modern superhero team-up while being self aware of how goofy its roots are and being centered on the amusing nature of these characters working together.

Buglamesh

A village immobilized by the threatening presence of a fog and the creatures lurking in the woods, live their everyday lives in fear that the fog will one day take them away into the woods. In this fateful retelling of the fog’s menacing beginnings, we will explore the village through the eyes of a family who became the first of many victims of the Buglamesh fog and the frightening creatures that come from it. Through a series of creative processes and methods, the story “Buglamesh” has been developed over the course of two semester starting from image clippings on a dorm room wall to conceptual story and drawings presented here.

The Journey Outside One’s Comfort Zone in “The Quest for a Doughnut"

In the story of “The Quest for a Doughnut,” a young shy and naive man named Robbie, 23 asks his neighbor Gloria, an old wise woman, how he can get himself a doughnut.  This seemingly ordinary event sets in motion a mysterious adventure where the old woman sends Robbie on a quest outside of the familiar neighborhood to unknown lands. Along the way, he meets strange animals like Alan the talking Elephant. He visits a fog bound dock with a pirate ship and eats purple noodles made out of mushrooms. Robbie travels high in a hot air balloon to low in the depths of the sea when he falls off the pirate ship. In the end, it is not about the doughnut, but the journey it takes Robbie on. The story was created through concept development starting with random pictures that evolved into a full blown story.
