|Description:||Employees who work at least 30 days within a year are eligible to accrue paid sick leave. The amount of paid sick leave an employee is eligible to accrue is determined by his/her employment status as follows:
• Regular full-time faculty accrue one day (8 hrs.) of paid sick leave per month on regular contract, up to a maximum of 12 sick days (96 hrs.) per year, beginning their date of hire. (i.e. nine-month faculty accrue a total of nine (9) sick days per year; 11-month faculty earn 11 days of sick leave per year.) Paid sick leave balances may be carried over to the following calendar year and accumulate up to a maximum of 120 days (960 hrs.).
• Adjunct employees are granted three (3) paid sick days (24 hrs.) upon employment, and subsequently, three (3) days (24 hrs.) at the beginning of each calendar year. Paid sick leave not used within a calendar year period will not carry over to the following calendar year.
Employees who leave the University, and are rehired within one year from the date of separation, will have previously accrued and unused sick pay leave balances reinstated, up to the maximum allowable. Unused sick leave is not payable upon termination of employment.
