Project Coordinator
Salary ($US) and Benefits
Salary Range: $39,200 - $42,000
Basic Function
Under the general direction of the Director of the Upward Bound Program-CVP, the Project Coordinator will implement the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Upward Bound Program-CVP. The Coordinator will implement and coordinate the Program’s services; assist the Director in administering the budget, select, assign, train and direct the Program’s staff; act as a liaison with university faculty, staff, and community relative to the Program’s services; and complete administrative duties as required or directed.
Representative Duties
• Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Project Coordinator will implement the day-to-day operations of UBP-CVP
• Assist the Director in making efficient budget decisions while improving student outcomes
• Implement the University’s policies
• Assist the Director with initial contact in participant identification, recruitment, and selection process
• Adhere to high school district policies and guidelines
• Develop and implement staff training and orientation session
• Assist Director in conducting special studies for improving program design
• Assist in the development of the academic curriculum for the Summer Residential Program and Saturday sessions during the academic year, as well as supervise the tutoring staff that will carry out mission and objectives of the program.
• Develop and nurture contact with community groups and agencies, local schools, and their district offices.
• Assist in identifying additional resources for supplementary funding in conjunction with the University’s Development Office.
• Manage Programs’ evaluation system to assure effectiveness
• Manage follow-up of Center’s graduates to assure appropriate placement in universities and colleges
• Conduct academic advising, tracking and counseling to Program’s participants
• Write and summit all reports on a timely basis
• Serve on CLU committees as assigned
• Assist Director with completion of the Annual Performance Report within designated time frame
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree in education/social science or related degree is preferred.
• Experience in program administration
• Minimum of three years experience working with low-income, first generation students.
• Experience working with students from a diverse background
• Knowledge of collegiate academic entrance requirements and financial aid procedures
• Knowledge of effective interventions to promote student retention and academic performance
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Ability to demonstrate courtesy, tact and discretion in dealing with the professional and academic community of the host institution
• Knowledge of strategies to improve students’ and families’ financial literacy
• Ability to speak, write and read in Spanish is desirable
