We've said good-bye to too many people
planted them here, where mists of lavender cloak the ground
twining through the trees like arms around a sleepy lover
while rock-hard angels watch
and crumble in their endless waiting . . .
waiting for the sun-on-snow white heads
to thrust through the winter frost
and unsheathe brilliant petals beneath the stars . . .
Stand with me, silent.
Can you feel their impatient dreams beneath our feet?
