The Dancer

Patricia Marsac

Her body speaks
Grace is mystifying in her spell
Each movement as smooth and slight as a loose string moving with the wind
Yet so powerful, falling, flowing with the rhythm of the music
The invisible hands reach through her soul and into my heart
I am still, yet my body feels her movement in every limb
The preciseness of the message makes me want to freeze every moment I see her fly
To tie each picture her body imagines into a box only I can open
Then I wouldn't have to wait to feel the movement—
When I desire beauty I will open it up again
The music calls and her dance needs no sound
Elegance creates the sounds all around her
She is forever young in the light of the stage
I only hope to move so gives her the pleasure she expels
To be meaningful to herself—she brings out what's inside
There is noise in my heart, when in her dance she reveals what I hide.
