Traveling Light

T. Karsten Braatz

That we run naked is no secret, and may
         some,
but at least we keep to the trees, not forcing our
liberties on others. The sudden
         coolness
between legs, the bobbing of white buttocks: we
struggle to breathe through our laughter. Like
         returning
to Eden, we forget our nakedness, rejoicing
in the human form, a reunion with our
forgotton selves; the joke becomes an epiphany:
there is genius in simplicity; we
         travel light!
If our less daring friends could understand, or if
we could better explain, 1 believe they would come
         chasing,
discarding their weighty baggage along the trail.
