For Mary

James Speegle

I don't want to say that I'm falling in love,
But it seems to me that a certain lady
Has turned my world around and I probably,
Won't ever be the same as yesterday.

I don't want to say I care quite this much yet,
Because we are taking it so nice and slow you see,
But the time we spend together is as magical as any spell.

I don't want to say that my heart is exposed to the
Winds of fate and I'm as lucky as a man can be,
When I look into her ocean blue-green eyes,
But somehow I think I must.

I don't want to say that my universe has expanded
This much more, but your laughter rings like the chimes
Of heaven, your tears are the angels weeping,
And God seems a little closer.

I don't want to say that my soul is lighter than
An eagle's wing in flight over the mountains,
But the truth is I hear what it tells me now,
And it says your name every heartbeat.

I don't want to say that today has a special sunrise
In it that shoots the colors all around,
And warms the earth and wakes it,
Like you have done to me,
From a cold sleep where I was lost.
