The dense gray morning
races seaward.
across the crackerbox housetops
of North Beach.
Its cool touch
dancing
on the back of my neck,
pecking it moistly.
I watch
through rising coffee steam,
as the mist of lost souls
is chased by the day.
Stealing a lick
as it goes.
