Helen Ahn Lim earned her undergraduate degree in Social Ecology from University of California, Irvine and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Indiana University, Bloomington. Her research and teaching interests include hate crimes, criminology, race, gender and crime, and white collar crime. Her current research focuses on hate crimes against Asian Americans. Helen has held teaching positions at Indiana University, Bloomington and Raritan Valley Community College in New Jersey.   She currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies Department, and as the former Director for the Center for Academic Service-Learning.

    This presentation focuses on the impact of hate crimes as message crimes on targeted populations, especially Asian Americans.
