Dr. Hawkins’ classes made me passionate about the study of exercise and movement. I was able to apply what I was learning in my 'Exercise Physiology' and 'Advanced Exercise Physiology' classes to my own life as an athlete and at the clinics and hospitals I interned at.

I most enjoyed having the opportunity to shadow in a multitude of grades as a part of my IES major at Cal Lutheran. It helped prepare me for a career in education by exposing me to the unique needs of children at different educational stages. It was an amazing experience because it helped me discover what grade I am most passionate about. I also was able to shadow multiple teachers and learn what teaching style aligned with my own educational values.

I believe that I benefited the most from classes that weren’t highly advertised within the department, such as the Costume and Scene and Acting for Shakespeare classes. You can become part of the industry in other ways and continue to develop your acting skills, all while continuing your career path.
