The professors have definitely been helpful and encouraging students to pursue graduate schools or careers. If you want to go into a certain profession they will help you do that. They'll tell you what you need. They do everything they can to really help you through the process. They're not just a research mentor but a life mentor, basically. It's a really great bond that you're able to form with the people who've gone through it before. They've done Ph.D. programs. They've done research. It's really good they're there as a support system for you.

I most enjoyed having the opportunity to shadow in a multitude of grades as a part of my IES major at Cal Lutheran. It helped prepare me for a career in education by exposing me to the unique needs of children at different educational stages. It was an amazing experience because it helped me discover what grade I am most passionate about. I also was able to shadow multiple teachers and learn what teaching style aligned with my own educational values.

The most important factor in helping students discover their purpose is experience. Without many experiences students aimlessly attempt to make themselves fit without passion. Providing students with a wide range of experiences, from social to academic, provides the opportunity for students to determine their passions which in turn leads to students discovering their purpose.
