Requirement: Avoid development of inappropriate sites and reduce the environmental impact from the location of a building on a site.

Implementation: In 1999, CLU developed a comprehensive master plan for the build out of the campus, which identified specific areas for the academic buildings, residence halls, sports facilities, and administrative and student services areas. The master plan also ensured that areas of the campus identified as habitat would be protected, and that areas within 50 ft. of waterways would not be developed.

The Swenson Center has been developed in the identified academic precinct of the campus. The building was developed on previously developed land that had been used for campus tennis courts.
