The above animation shows the gray crescent forming
180o opposite
the sperm entry point. Sperm entry causes a cytoplasmic
reorganization in the egg such that
the egg cortex is rotated relative to the deeper
cytoplasm. This causes the juxtaposition of
vegetal half cortex with animal half cytoplasm
at the gray crescent, and this marks the future
dorsal side of the embryo. Use the "Reload" button
