This one-day professional development workshop is designed to help private school leaders become familiar with and conversant in a variety of contemporary change leader concepts and their different points of view, demonstrate the ability to paraphrase key aspects of the research on change leadership, identify a variety of change tools, resources and strategies to assist with "instructional transitions" school leaders are facing within their respective roles, and apply new learning in change leadership by creating a rough draft of a change plan using the content learned from this presentation. Following each conference, online cohort coaching is available. Sessions will be facilitated by well-honed administrators.

Raymond L. Smith is an author consultant with Corwin. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership and innovation from the University of Colorado in Denver and recently served as an adjunct professor within the Principal Preparation Program, where he co-taught an 18-month integrated principal preparation course. Smith has served as Director of High School Education for Douglas County School District in Castle Rock, Colorado, where his primary responsibility was leadership for and educational oversight of seven high schools and two alternative high schools—approximately 10,000 students in grades 9–12.

Most recently, Smith was the lead author of a book titled The Reflective Leader: Implementing a Multidimensional Leadership Performance System (2012) and Evaluating Instructional Leadership: Recognized Practices for Success (2015), which includes a foreword by John Hattie.

The workshop is presented by the Graduate School of Education Center for Innovative Learning, in partnership with CaPSE for California Private School Educators
