CLA Funds Faculty Grants
$8,000 awarded for 2012
December 20, 2011
On December 12, John Tannaci, Assistant Professor of the Chemistry Department and Chair of CLA’s Faculty/Departmental Grant Selection Committee announced two faculty grants. The grants will fund CLU student field research and a foreign film series.
Professor Kristopher B. Karsten, Assistant Professor of Biology, was awarded $5,000 to fund experiential field learning and student research for his biology undergraduate students.
Karen Renick, Professor of French in the Department of Languages and Cultures, was awarded $3,000 to continue the popular French Film Festival benefiting students and the community. This festival had been funded through a five year grant (2006-11) by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Ministry of Culture (CNC). CLA’s grant will ensure its continuation for 2012.
CLA is dedicated to enriching CLU and promoting its interaction with the community and local businesses. To this end, CLA provides funds to support faculty/departmental grants.
This fall CLA announced a request for proposals. Appropriate proposals could include cultural events and seminars, scientific research equipment, and all requests in between. The application form was available on the Academic Affairs website and a rubric was provided to clarify selection criteria for this competitive application.
