Computer Science
The Computer Science program does a good job at focusing on generalized concepts of programming rather than a specific language. We’re taught to think in an object-oriented way, it’s really important to break things down and create small pieces of a large program. To write a program to work efficiently and accurately, you need good planning skills. The emphasis on good programming practices in this program is one of the biggest things that sets us up for success in both our classes and future careers.

Multimedia
The Multimedia department offers a variety of unique courses, like Maxon Cinema 4D and Typography, that help us build skills in a wide range of fields such as film, graphic design, and animation. This grants me more opportunities to find a job. In addition, Cal Lutheran’s small class sizes ensure that I get all the help and feedback I need from my professors to succeed.

Spanish
The “El Eco” class piqued my interest because it develops Spanish writing and speaking skills in a creative way. The most rewarding outcome of this class has been gaining confidence in my speaking skills. In class, we are always encouraged to speak whether or not it is perfect content or grammar-wise. This environment has helped me with speaking more because it forces me to stop over-analyzing what I am saying. I want to work in the education field, so being able to communicate in Spanish is extremely beneficial.
