Criminology and Criminal Justice
As a Criminology and Criminal Justice major, I was able to study under compassionate and experienced faculty. I originally wanted to join a federal agency such as the FBI or DHS. Through the faculty mentorship, I was able to find a career in academia that I’m passionate about, be admitted into a graduate program, do meaningful research on police bias and reform, and launch my life into the next step.

Mathematics
My first math class at Cal Lutheran, Calculus 3, is what motivated me to major in it. I really enjoyed the active learning method Dr. Gagliardo used in this class, guiding us through problems instead of lecturing with examples. All the faculty are passionate about math and genuinely care about each student’s success in their classes.

Sociology
Qualitative social science research projects encourage students to get involved in social issues by offering a tool to analyze them and forcing the students to interact with those who are directly affected by the issues. Research projects help students develop skills, values and attitudes that cannot be easily developed in conventional class settings.
