Ventura County Probation Agency

The Ventra County Probation Agency is charged by the courts with the supervision of approximately 15,500 adult offenders and 2,500 juvenile offenders on probation.  Under their mandated functions is the operation of the Juvenile Facilities (VCPA).  The Juvenile Facilities allows a capacity of 420 juvenile offenders, which includes both the commitment and the detention units.  Youth under the care of VCPA are provided individual and group activities within the facilities.  Programs include a Boys & Girls Club, gang intervention, a gender specific program for females, a tolerance program, parenting classes, tutoring, substance abuse counseling, anger management, fitness, music, and dance classes (VCPA).  The Juvenile Facilities aims at detaining youth who are an imminent risk to society or themselves, and cannot be placed in a less restrictive setting.  The main focus of the VCPA is to rehabilitate youth back into the community and give them the resources they need to be productive citizens.
