Ethel Beyer at 100

Cal Lutheran's First Employee

Eighty-five colleagues and friends gathered Sept. 5 to wish CLU's first employee "a very Happy 100th Birthday."

Ethel Beyer was hired by founding president Orville Dahl as his administrative assistant in 1957. She continued in various capacities at the University for 40 years until her official retirement in 1997.

Beyer received an honorary degree from CLU that same year.
