Between the City and the Suburbs
Denise Dreis
On the other side of town,
where the city ends and the suburbs really begin,
near the Lakeside Motel and the old Italian restaurant,
next to the library and the playground,
they found her in the brush,
feet near the water's edge.
She might have been beautiful.
The van door slid open,
and the cameraman said,
"We are live in 3, 2, 1."
