shines in neon
lights

blasts
through
the speakers.
Cowgirls with pink
bandanna shirts and tight
white jeans two-step to the beats
of Alan Jackson. W dance through
the clouds of stinging smoke and
past the tables with
toppled beer cans and
pitchers half empty. Outside, dirt
flies through the air as cowboys make
truck donuts on the side of the road, trying
to impress the girls. The yellow powder
lingers in the air and the green and
blue neon sign that says
"Midnight Rodeo" gets smaller
and smaller in the truck's
rearview mirror.
