In Our Place in the World

Mike Davis

Thinking of you once again
after another night of questions I am too afraid to ask
and answers you are unwilling to provide
and the distance placed between us
only hurts a part of you
as well as a part of me
and when will I stop wishing for one small, perfect moment
when that moment can be now
but T can only think of then and what will be
and when will I stop being afraid and become the dashing hero
No, I am not that man
I will not sweep you off your feet and take you to a castle
and slay dragons and the beast under the bed
I will simply stand by a staircase and stutter and stammer
and you will gaze into my eyes and say that I am crazy
when the only thing I am crazy about is you
and somewhere in the world
someone is falling in love
and somewhere in the world
someone wishes they were
and in our place in the world
love is the thing we fear the most
