Seasonal Items
Lynn Hales
There used to be winter when snow fell along the borders of my mind.
I fenced you in like springtime.
There used to be spring when trees stopped slumber.
I held you close like the heat of summer.
There used to be summer when oceans rose tall.
I kissed you hard like first frost in fall.
Now, there is only the flow of everyday sameness.
You were my rainbow.
Roses bloom too soon.
I gave you roses under the moon.
I captured you like a father his son, I let go of you so many years past.
There used to be winter, winter didn't last.
