First Gasp
Catherine Quigg
Before earth's first gasp of breath,
He flew across
The void of a yet unformed space
To this desecrated planet
awaiting his touch.
Unrestrained water crashes
against water
Unbridled by moon or tide,
A dead world,
devouring itself,
groans for a yoke of balance.
He comes with power.
Calming the sea
he raises the land,
bringing forth his miracle
from nothingness
and dust.
