George Mahadma Gowaseb
Thousands of miles across the ocean
I have a home
Home where the smell of freshly baked cookies
lingers in the kitchen.
Home where I can walk around barefooted
under the African sun.
Where I can listen to the melodious chirps of birds,
with no complexities of Mozart.
Thousands of miles across the ocean
I have a family,
A family to share my problems with
to confide in.
A family where I belong.
Thousands of miles across the ocean
I have a society
uncorrupt and real
Caring and charitable
Warm and unpretentious
A society I am part of as much as it is part of me.
Thousands of miles across the ocean
that's where I belong.
