Untitled

I fill the shadows of
a darkened corner
because this is where I fit.
She turns the lights on
and I close my eyes
but now she sees where I sit.
She tells me stories
of her lovers past
and tells me I'm not that way,
then reaches out to touch
me as I disappear
because I'm only her shadow today.
I've seen the silver linings
of smaller clouds
that I had created.
Watch for a moment as I
grit my teeth
to see that the cloud had faded.
But when the storm comes
and there is no sun
I close my eyes and say
"It's going to flood
and I can't even swim"
because I'm only her shadow today.
