Apology at Night
Achiel Van Wanseele
To Debbie
Pardon the intensity of my stare
While you sleep, though you are
Unaware that I do...
Too often we neglect to speak
The thoughts that torment within, Like doves in cages:
The anticipation of that day
When lives are whole,
Dreams must not be hidden,
Strength is in one another.
When battlements are destroyed.
That day when passions
Are fulfilled, and you and I
Can mirror the sky and be
The rulers of this life.
When moons are full and we dance.
There are steps between you and I
But they can be crossed and bridges built.
...pardon the secrecy of my glare;
I am loving you,
Though you are unaware.
