Together
Christina Kollacks
Relaxing over a hot cup of earl grey tea
Alone at the big oval table in our kitchen
I think of you and feel not quite a part
Of the two people we are together
United but in some way not joined,
And peering over the rim of my tea cup
The tiny saucer is swallowed
In the wood grains of the deep brown table Hardly noticeable
Though the porcelain whiteness and gilded edging
Shine out to be seen and recognized
And joined with the cup it should hold.
