The End
Dave Clawson
The darkness came quickly as the ceiling kept spinning and
the light dimmed low
My thought at first was food poisoning or indigestion
But my body felt no pain, just confusion and loss of control
My hands lost sensation, unable to feel the blanket
or turn off the light switch
My ears couldn't hear the TV in the next room
or the dog barking at the neighbor's cat
And my eyes tried to catch glimpses of everything in the room, hoping that my eyelids wouldn't close or turn black
The apple pie was cooking, but the smell never reached the bedroom And my voice called out but no noise came from within
The light was almost gone and the window slowed the wind
from reaching my skin
My lips no longer touched one another
and my vision began fading until it blurred
The ceiling stopped spinning
The light was turned off
And alone my body chilled
