The Fairys Dance
T. Karsten Braatz
She danced a fairy's dance upon my soul, Her feathery-winged flutter floated me up And we danced among the higher boughs.
She played a song upon my mind,
Leading an orchestra of demons on a roller coaster ride With pounding overtures that snapped awake the fairies in my
stomach.
In a blind frenzy
They bounced off the walls and into each other Until tangled in an aching knot of broken wings.
Now she stomps upon my heart. . . . with both feet, And fists clenched white,
Springing and landing with full force,
Crushing the wings of delight,
Killing all the fairies.
