I Cry
James Byrne
"Fear not, never again
shall ye perish in flood"
and the rainbow arched the heaven
as a singing bird.
The bearer of life
died in the desert,
Thirsty, as water flowed from his side
Thirsty, while seated by a well
Thirsty, as vinegar touched the lips
A wasteland
as tears dried upon a cheek
Eyes reddened by the hot winds of flaming
Desire
the fish swims in fire
Glass half empty
glass half full
as dust sweeps over the garden
the loss is felt
and young wither
to early for the reaper
I stand,
Alone,
Free,
Joyful in the crystal water
all too aware of the drought to come
I cry
