On a Blank Page
Heather Cosavan
On a blank page...
Words ease from my pen,
flow-from the tip
harden on the page
indelible ink
never can be erased
or changed
only scratched out
blotted, burned,
or torn
but we hold the sheet of our words
and can change them at our will. Not like life
which flows from the soul
creates a pattern
in indelible ink;
it can never be erased
or changed
nor scratched out,
blotted, burned,
or torn
for we
do not hold the sheet
on which the pattern of our life
is written.
We cannot change
what our will has all ready chosen. We do not have
the ability
to rewrite the past chapters of our lives. We have only one chance,
one pen
one fill
of
indelible ink.
