Peppers sway their tall bodies back and forth
dangle clusters of red berries
a Norway pine waves his long needled branches
lemon holds her body still flutters her dark green leaves
brings landscape alive with movement
Trees can’t kick or jump
can’t bounce from one foot to the other
yet they have rhythm—
perhaps they sign to one another
or bow to the cosmos
thankful for rain
