Desperate Youth
B. Robert Ravnitzky
And we are so shivering,
in the California sun.
We have goosebumps,
and tears.
We touch everyone;
we open our mouths
to take in anyone.
And we are so shivering,
in the desert heat.
There is nothing for us,
so we create.
We are creators and liars.
We are gods and vanguards.
There is nothing.
Only lies and liars,
so we lie with them
to create a warmth
in the heat.
And these are vacant,
but they are ours.
We created them,
and we cherish them.
Without them there is
nothing.
Lie with me, lover,
liar,
and pretend that I love you.
I have love only for my skin,
and your skin.
You take away my goosebumps,
so I say I love you.
